Mr.
Schween’s practice emphasizes all aspects of water law. He has extensive
experience with water rights matters in Colorado, particularly in Water
Divisions 1 (South Platte River), 2 (Arkansas River), and 6 (North Platte
River drainage). He has practiced law in Colorado since 1983, and has
further experience in private land development, land planning, municipal and
special district issues, water title, and administrative law. Mr. Schween
has also practiced before the Colorado Ground Water Commission and the
Colorado Water Quality Control Commission.
In the last several years, Mr. Schween has focused primarily on
adjudications of water rights and augmentation plans, and water rights
purchases and sales. Some of the clients and entities he represents or has

Mr. Schween has his own professional corporation and has been a shareholder
in the Denver laws firms of Saunders, Snyder, Ross & Dickson, P.C., and
Duncan, Ostrander & Dingess, P.C. Prior to attaining his JD from Denver
University, Mr. Schween served in the federal government, primarily in
health care investigations, and also holds a masters degree in Public
Administration.
Mr. Schween is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Aurora Bar
Association, and the Water and Real Estate Sections of the Colorado Bar. He
continues to be active in local US Tennis Association matters, and is an
active member of Colorado Athletic Clubs and SaddleBrooke Tennis Club.
Mr. Schween has authored an article for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law
Institute entitled
“Ground Water Modeling: Capabilities and Limitations, Use and Abuse” (1986),
and a chapter on “Ground Water” for the Colorado Bar Association’s Water Law
Benchbook (2006).
